BARITE

Barite (Baso4) is a widely distributed, naturally occurring mineral characterised by its high specific gravity, which ranges from 4.2 to 4.6, and a hardness index of 3.0 on the Mohs scale. This non-reactive solid is primarily utilised to enhance mud weight, achieving levels of up to 22 pounds per gallon (ppg).
